Good morning,

Coming from Photoshop 2018 on my Mac, two things I need Affinity to do, which I cannot currently work out if it is correct or lacking..

I upload a load of pictures to our website, all these pictures need various cropping, so not all the same sizes, and at present, the crop tool needs activating for each picture I have in my separated cascaded view, by pressing the C key, is there a way to keep the Crop tool active?  Whilst it might be a simple solution for everyone else, its damn annoying when Photoshop keeps it active?

My other issue is, once cropped, the image crops to a smaller physical size, but the window it was in stays the same size, in Photoshop it will minimize the overall look of the cascaded tabbed window, this is probably the most annoying problem, I could live the pressing the C key if I have to, but I can't live with having to constantly minimize, or move the window I just cropped.

Tell me I am doing something wrong..  Is there a setting to keep the Crop tool active all the time whilst in the program, and a way to keep all tools active once pressed once per session?

Is there any way to reduce the physical window I cropped, so the cropped size of the image reduces to the size of around 2" square, thus allowing me to crop the next image?

I have attached what I need to happen, which currently works fine in Photoshop, the large images have been cropped to show to overall size of the cropped image in smaller box, but I cannot reduce the physical window size at present in Affinity.  Hope there is a solution, because apart from this main issue for me, the program looks great.

Hope so, otherwise, its more money wasted on a program that looks great, but isn't going to meet expectations.

Cheers

Nick

If your products were in the centre of the image, you could batch process them using the batch tool. You could first create a macro to crop to a specific size and save to an export folder so you don't overwrite the originals.

A small tip on product photography, get a sheet of A4 paper and use it to reflect the light back onto the shadow side of the product, it will give a better look.

Hiya,

Batch processing is useless for me, all my crops are different sizes, oh and these pics are just for this questions, I have a photo bench for my professional stuff :-)

Affinity window handling leaves a lot to be desired. Resize window to resampled image is something that is not happening (instead image blows up to window size!).

I would just jump to next window after being processed one by pressing command->  ... wait, that does not work either!! Is there really no command to choose next/previous window? :51_scream:

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Venom.

You're not doing anything wrong, that I can see.

1. The tool selected, and its options, are maintained separately for each opened document. You cannot keep the Crop tool selected if you switch to a different document, and this applies to all tools. When you switch documents you will have the tool you were using in that document.

2. The Affinity applications also do not auto-resize the windows like you want. I'm sure there are feature requests to allow that.

Cheers for the replies, I guess I will be sticking with Photoshop then for now, simply things that needed adding, I won't be keeping this software then, I shall apply for a refund.

Cheers
