Hi all

Just a brief question to anyone in the know please.

I use the Mac Book Pro, after I take photos I insert sd card into my MBP, they are automatically downloaded to the native apple app photo.

Is this the best way to import the photos into my system?, I ask because, if I go into my affinity photo, there is no way to get the photos straight from affinity out of my native apple photo app, it is "greyed out" when I go through the new process in affinity, so I don't seem to be able to import them directly.

I would like a simpler way if anyone could please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi RoyalBulwell :)

How you import/store images on your Mac is up to you, if you want to import images into your Photos app then you can open images in Affinity using the 'Edit in' extension from the Photos app.

Another option is to save the images in a library folder and then open the images you want to edit in Affinity Photo, using this method will allow you to find and select your images through the File>Open dialog in Affinity.

I hope this helps!

In the Open window of Affinity Photo, on the sidebar on the left, scroll all the way down until you see a "Media" category. Below it should be a "Photos" item with a camera icon. (If you don't see it, hover the pointer to the right of the word "Media" until the word "Show" appears & click on that.)

As in the simplified screenshot below, if you click on the "Photos" item, on the right you should see the Photos icon & triangles you can click to show all the Photos albums, collections, etc. & their contents; & below that (after a delay) thumbnail previews of those items. Select one or more of the thumbnails & click the Open button to open them in Affinity Photo.

I don't use Photos and do not have any automatics enabled. DSLR raw files are transferred to folders with simple drag&drop, iPhone photos are transferred with Image Capture app (drag&drop there too).

Hi

Thank you for that, I never knew it existed, which shows I am not familiar with Affinity Photo, much appreciated.
