In Mac shortcuts lists, represents the Cmd (Command) key and represents the Ctrl (Control) key. So you need to hold down the Ctrl key, press and release the W key and then release the Ctrl key.

Thanks for the reply, I've tried all the keys, but won't work.

Ctrl W
Option W (alt W)
cmd W
Shift W

Edit:
I tried changing hot keys in the preferences, using "Options W" and it works, but if I reset it to "Ctrl W", it doesn't work.
Does it happen to someone else?

That's strange. Ctrl-w does work for me. Just in case: You might take a look for Ctrl-w in your system-preferences > keyboard > shortcuts to exclude that it got defined there.
Also, at least for test, you could try to define there a ctrl-w shortcut for Publisher.

In keyboard preferences there are no shortcut with the combination "ctrl w".
Also define a "ctrl w" in system preferences for Publisher has no effect.

Then I've tried also change to "ctrl q" in Publisher preference and it works.
For now I will use it with that shortcut, but it's really odd.

Might have something to do with non-English keyboard. Perhaps you should report this in

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

To make shure there is no hardware issue: When you have set a shortcut in system preferences: did you see both characters  ctrl-w.png.2a424d8e075e798b5539158ab483af8e.png  appear in the text field?

Again but this time to exclude an operating system preference related issue: can you use ctrl-w in Publisher when you boot the computer as another user?

I created a new user, but the problem persists, "ctrl w" does not activate preview mode.

Hi Bebez71, have you resolved this issue? I have the same problem.. I'm italian too, and I discovered that if I change the keyboard language to USA, the shortcut ctrl-W works..

Why not just assign a different shortcut in the preferences? Having it set to Control + W is not a requirement.

Just in case: In the meantime, I have reduced my key shortcut to the letter w only. Since I don't toggle with the active text cursor, it works charming without the need for an additional modifier key.
