Pandorino
My case: a self-intersecting shape that shows empty holes in the intersections. What I want: obtain a shape with no holes On Illustrator I just need to: use Winding (non-zero) > duplicate the shape or overlay another small shape on it > use the "Unite" command The intersections disappear and the shape is uniform. In Affinity Designer this is impossible. Following this operation in AD the result is to just revert to the above shape. So, there is no real way to empty those holes and make a single non-self-intersecting shape. Winding (non-zero) is just a display option that doesn't unify the shape. Pšenda
Try Layer, Fill Mode, Alternate/Winding. https://affinity.help/designer/English.lproj/pages/CurvesShapes/about_linesAndShapes.html Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.5.5.2636 (Retail) Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 23H2, Build 22631.4317. Pandorino
That is just a display option, the holes would look filled but the shape would still be intersecting itself.

Pandorino
@>|< nope, that doesn't work since when I click on "Divide" the object just switch Fille Mode and I start to see the empty holes. Anyway, since it's just a single object self-intersecting, there is nothing to separate. This is why I'm asking for a new feature, not a solution. There is no solution but to cover the "holes" with patch shapes like in picture and then "Add" all those patches to the original one. But it's long and in Illustrator I can do it with 2 clicks. Here the file so you can try and see. The original design comes from freepik.com Crown-freepik.afdesign

Pandorino
Ah! Thank you, @>|<, for the help. It does work! I had missed a step in your process. I still hope that the Affinity team will add a function to simplify this case but this is a solution I couldn't see by myself. Thanks again lepr and woefi
