casterle
The Keyboard Shortcuts editor is cool, but missing some things that would be useful. Specifically, I want a shortcut to change brush size and hardness. But if I check the available options for the Brush tools, only Increase Size and Decrease Size appear in the list. Why omit the other controls? Quote Windows 11 Pro, XP-Pen Deco 03, AP, AD & APub
Staff MEB Posted March 1, 2019 Staff Share Posted March 1, 2019 Hi casterle, On Mac, press and hold ⌃(ctrl) + ⌥ (option/alt) and drag the mouse horizontally to set the brush width and vertically to set the brush hardness. On Windows, press and hold the ALT key + left + right mouse buttons simultaneously and drag the mouse horizontally to set the brush width and vertically to set the brush hardness. I tried multiple option key combinations with each mouse button, but didn't think to hold down both mouse buttons. I imagine that on the Mac you can use your tablet's pen with the modifier keys to change width and hardness. Do you know how to do that on Windows? I'm most often using my tablet rather than my mouse with brushes... But this doesn't address the question of the missing controls in the brush shortcuts panels. I'd like to use Shift-[ and Shift-] to adjust hardness and Alt-[ and Alt-] for opacity. Is there a document that lists the key/mouse combinations that have changed? I find myself stopping too often in tutorials to ask questions. No, I was looking for something that documented changes in the UI from version to version so I can 'translate' from older tutorials to the version I am working with. walt.farrell
I doubt that anything has changed significantly in the key/mouse area that would invalidate a tutorial. I don't think there are a lot of changes; I've seen far worse with other products. But there are a few that have confused me. I doubt it would make sense to create such a document if it doesn't exist but if it does it would be a help. Don't get me wrong; I think AP is wonderful and I truly appreciate all of the resources and support Affinity (and folks like you) have provided. I just get frustrated when something doesn't work and I have to stop the video and find out why.
