Peter Kahrel
$ matches the end of a paragraph only when the paragraph ends in a return character. The last paragraph in a story, when it doesn't end in a return, is ignored. P.
walt.farrell
I noticed that, too. That last paragraph ends in something that displays (with Text > Show Special Characters) as a small blue section symbol. But I can't figure out what that symbol is. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Peter Kahrel
That symbol is the section sign, it indicates the end of the story. P. walt.farrell
Staff Gabe Posted March 26, 2019 Staff Share Posted March 26, 2019 Hi both, Sorry for the delayed reply. I've looked into this and I believe I might have found a different issue. Can you please attach your project file and your Expression? Just to make sure they are not related. Thanks, Gabe.
Peter Kahrel
@GabrielM -- I don't have any particular project file, but it's easy to recreate. In a text frame, type xxx, press Enter/Return, and type zzz (but don't press Enter/Return). Now search .$ (any character at the end of a line). This expression should match first the last x, then the last z. But the last z is not found. Peter
