Crop Tool Set Default to Original Ratio

Recommended Posts

Well, not here. If I crop an image: Resample 1200 x 800 pixels
And shot down the Affinity Photo
And restart it we are back at Crop > Unconstrained

Why?

I miss a opportunity to make my own Crop default setting. Any help?

For a Resample crop, create a preset for your 1200 x 800 pixel crop

Select that preset and crop an image

That preset will then be the default for new images during that session and if you shut down and restart APhoto

It will only stop being the default if you choose a different preset or different crop mode (e.g. Unconstrained)

Hello @RicManDuFrei and welcome to the forums.

Did you follow the short instruction one post above?

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | INTEL Arc A770 LE 16 GB  | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.1742)

Affinity Suite V 2.5.5 & Beta 2.(latest)

according to the previous @carl123's post, Affinity would remember last chosen crop mode. So I did not create a new preset, which I do not need, I just want to default it as "original ratio" instead of unconstrained.

So I open a file (raw) and do the following: launch crop tool -> crop -> validate by pressing enter. Next time I launch the tool again (in the same file, or in a different file in the same session, or after closing the program and opening again) the default is still and always "unconstrained".

according to the previous @carl123's post,

Those instructions were for the Photo persona not the Develop persona

The crop tool in the Develop persona may not work the same (no time to test it today)
