CC Hogan
Okay, this is probably in here somewhere (but I am new!) When I "Open from Cloud," and then choose OneDrive, it tells me, rather confusingly: "Opening from iCloud." Which it isn't. Confusing this old bloke! Oh, and hello everyone! CC Hogan
Sorry - not exactly an exciting screen shot! I had to choose a file big enough to give me a chance to get it. So this is opening from OneDrive. I assume the message is a default one rather than it actually knows where you are opening from. i was also trying to work out the workflow If I create a new file on the iPad which I want to work on via OneDrive. It seems I have to create it, save it to my iPad, then go to files, move it to OneDrive and then re-open it. Or is there a neater way? thanks! Quote On a fun little learning curve with Affinity. No that is the method for Onedrive, Dropbox etc. The only neater way is to use Apple iCloud files. CC Hogan
It would be nice if it was expanded to include other cloud systems - I mean, so "save" allowed you to nominate where other than just iCloud and to my iPad. I already pay for OneDrive through office 365, and I have pCloud too. I don't want to start paying for extra storage on iCloud as well. But at least there is a workaround. Currently, I have a habit of creating the files on my desktop first and saving to where I need them for the project - then Open from my cloud storage on the iPad. Stunning software this, however. DM1
Set you default storage to 'on my iPad'. When you Save, Files opens and then you can access many storage/cloud locations. You can see a few of the folders I have set up via Document (Readdle free app). Documents is a file manager (among many other things) and allows nested folders to keep things tidy. It can also access photos, clouds, networks, play music, view photos/videos, etc Well worth a look. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). CC Hogan
I'll try that! ... and a few minutes later... I changed the default to On My Ipad, but when I hit save on a test file, it just saved - it didn't give me any options. Files didn't open. Quote On a fun little learning curve with Affinity. Try it with a new file, you should find it saves to On My iPad. It’s only the default for new files not already saved somewhere else. You will find that an existing file that is in the cloud stays in the cloud, even when this setting is changed. You will have to close the file on the Affinity home screen to remove it from the sandbox, move the file to the On My iPad folder then open it from there. CC Hogan
The test file was a new file. The only way I can save anywhere else is use save a copy from within the actual app. Save in the home screen just saves to the my iPad location. Tried it with another new doc and it’s the same. I must be misunderstanding something. Quote On a fun little learning curve with Affinity. Or a vector curve. One of the two. Just a writer learning to draw. DM1
This is what should happen. Then, next time use Open from Cloud, navigate to the saved location, select file. Next time you use Save, it will save back to the chosen location. AF023004-E4C8-45A5-B149-F7757ED75454.MP4 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). CC Hogan
Ah - so you are using save a copy and not save. Thanks, DM1 Quote On a fun little learning curve with Affinity. Or a vector curve. DM1
If you just Save in the first instance it will save to the Affinity Folder located in Files app. Saving a copy allows you to choose any location.
