ronnyb Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 When adding a Spot Global color using latest AD beta, for example via Pantone Goe Coated swatch palette, then selecting Add Global Color… from the hamburger menu in the upper right, brings up the Global Color Picker/Palette, where instead of inheriting the name of the spot color from the Pantone library, it's renamed to Global Color 1, which is not so useful for production environment. How about leaving the original color's name and adding Global Color 1 after a dash – "Pantone XYZ – Global Color 1" or something like that 2021 16” Macbook Pro w/ M1 Max 10c cpu /24c gpu, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, macOS Sequoia 15.1 2018 11" iPad Pro w/ A12X cpu/gpu, 256 GB, iPadOS 18.1

I hate renaming them, but if you select to Rename the swatch, if I recall (I'm not using any Affinity software at the moment) the swatch has the correct name entered when you choose the Rename Spot... command. So I copy from that, then opt to Rename Global Color and paste the spot color name.

Wosven Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 It's in the document palette that you need to rename them. (Don't rename the palette before you've finished to add the Pantone colours in APub, or it'll add a new "Document" document's colour palette with the added Pantone ) The steps in the Document palette, after adding colours: ronnyb 1
ronnyb Posted January 6, 2019 Author Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) Thanks @Wosven... But I'm in AD... after adding the Pantone color to a new Document Palette and then selecting Rename… I still get the same Global Color 1 in the Rename dialogue box Update: never mind, I realized you have to select Rename Spot Color… even though it's a Global color and I selected Rename Global Color… I really hope Affinity devs work out a better way to handle color palettes... it's pretty confusing and non-intuitive right now.... 10 minutes ago, Wosven said: It's in the document palette that you need to rename them. MikeW Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Yep. Swatches have obtuse programming. They need a serious overhaul. ronnyb 1
