Not sure if I understand here what you really mean (?), but you can save an image under a different name and open that new generated/saved one then additionally. Or you duplicate/copy the layers of an image over to another document of the same size as the image.

Maybe what the OP is referring to is the Duplicate command in PS. If that's the case, Affinity doesn't have that option.

right click on the image layer and choose duplicate

Not quite what I was meaning, but it will do the job. What I want to do is make a montage of the same image, or document as it is called. Thank you for your input.

Full image/document is the same thing. Thank you for your prompt reply. I shall try your answer and it (sounds) about right.

Unfortunately, at my age answers don't come readily to mind and they need a bit of a shove. So thank you verysame.
