I am new to affinity and need help with creating a template.

I have to make a template for the inner paper circle of a vinyl 12" record. One I have the template I will need to place the record

design on top - text and images....being able to move the images around on a circular base ( ie it doesn't have a fixed direction).

are there any tutorials specific for this - or basics on how to create a circle within a circle

with set dimensions - it has to be precise I cant just use my eye .

Hi Shell,

Welcome to the forums :)

There's no direct 'template' builder in Affinity, however you can save your objects as assets (provided you're using Affinity Designer) to be brought into new projects, or save a copy of the Affinity file and then duplicate this whenever you need a template.

Please see the below video for a tutorial on Assets:

In terms of creating a circle with specific measurements, this can be done using the transform studio. I've made a quick video below showing this:

Please note I have Snapping enabled here in order to align the circles centrically on my page, for more info on snapping see the below tutorial:

Please see the post below for a full list of our Affinity Designer tutorials :)

Huh!?! I'm signed into my Affinity account, signed into Vimeo, and still get the message "Private Video Sorry, you don't have permission to watch." (Chrome, MacBook Air earkt 2015, Monterey 12.7.6)

Those old videos are no longer available. Rather than relying on information in posts that are 7 years old and in the Archived section of the forums, it's probably better to start your own topic in Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows), explain the problem you need to solve, and ask for fresh assistance.

Thanks! Makes a ton of sense… but maybe it would be good to have the search function conspicuously mark really old posts, too?

The search results on these forums are sorted according to ‘Relevancy’ by default. Go to the Sort By options and choose ‘Date’ to bring the most recent posts to the top of the list.IMG_4542.thumb.jpeg.dbc4d30181a5e07b6b242d0eec5c5507.jpeg
