Transforming

Recommended Posts

The question has probably been asked before but I can’t find the answer.   I duplicated an image, then wanted to transform it vertically, however the transformation is applied to both images on the iPad.  Can anyone suggest how to apply the transformation to only one image.

This is what I was able to do on my MBPT successfully but cannot duplicated on the iPad Pro

If by 'Transform’ you mean flip, you need to select only the layer or layers you want to flip then tap the flip icon in the Transform studio. If you’re new to iPad you may find the PDF Help file an interesting browse.

Thanks DM1 for your reply.  I am not new to the iPad and perhaps this works with Designer but it doesn't appear to work in Photo.

I selected only the layer that I wanted to flip in exactly the same manner I did in my previous post that explains how I did the same process on my MBPT.  However on Photo on iPad it flips both layers.  I have even gone to the extent of deselecting the other layer but when reselected both layers have flipped.  As I described, the only way, on the iPad, that I can achieve the flip is to use the transform tool and drag down to actually invert the image.  I have tried rasterizing the layer but without luck.

So is this a glitch or what.

Now I see what you mean. Yes it definitely act differently to the Transform studio. I don't know if that is the way it is meant to work...

Hopefully the mods will be along to explain if it is a bug.

@Callum Hi Callum, should this thread be moved to bug section or is the described behaviour as intended?

Thanks for the clarification MEB.  It should be noted that the command as I used It on my MBPT works from the document command in the menu ie flip vertical, and therefore was causing my confusion.

Edit:  OK as I am not on my laptop I see that there is a difference in the way that the Flip commands are issued.

Under Document, the entire document is transformed.

Under Arrange, individual layers are transformed.

So it is just the wording that was creating a problem with my understanding of this issue on the iPad.

But I do stand by my latest comment as the terminology is different.

Just a note.  It might help for these little nuances to be explained more fully in the help menu as it has taken days for this clarification.  I love this product but was growing very frustrated as some of the more subtle aspect of your awesome product are difficult to find answers for.  Some work differently then the desktop version.

Just my 2 cents worth
