Krolly
I am used to asking Help when I am looking for a tool in new software. I couldn't find an eraser in Affinity Photo so I asked the internet. Still no joy. How do I erase something without drawing a path around it with a pen tool, selecting it and hitting delete please? walt.farrell
If you click on Help in Affinity Photo, and type "erase" (without the quotes) in the search box, you'll get a good selection of information on the various ways of erasing things. Or you can use the Online Help and make the same query. Though it will depend on exactly what you're trying to do, I might suggest starting with the Erase Brush Tool. Krolly
Thank you for your suggestion. I tried erase and tried erase brush. Nothing likely.
Krolly
I'm sorry. I can see Background Erase Brush Tool in the Help topics. Nothing in the tools. So I went to the brush tool and it highlights areas. This is so frustrating. I have used the Adobe programmes since they were called Photoshop and Illustrator without a number following. Suddenly I know nothing! All I want is an eraser. I want to swipe across something and it disappears. If it's a big area I want a large brush tip an if it's delicate tiny stuff I want a small tip. How do I turn a brush into a normal eraser? Thank you for any plain english help you can give me.
walt.farrell
The Background Erase Brush and the Erase Brush are different tools (though I do not know enough to explain the difference to you). Your problem with not finding the tool may be that it is not one of the default ones shown by Affinity Photo. You can use View > Customize Tools to additional tools if you need them. Staff Gabe Posted September 17, 2018 Staff Share Posted September 17, 2018 Hi @Krolly, The Erase tool is located on the left Tool Panel. Thanks, Gabe.
Krolly
Too easy. I wonder why Help doesn't bring this up as an option, but the icon makes sense now I recognize it as the eraser on the end of a pencil. Thank you.
walt.farrell
The Erase Brush Tool is the 8th entry returned for me when searching Help in Affinity Photo. Here's the entry from searching the online Help. Polygonius
BTW: on adjustments/filters/masks you can "erase" or "paint" with the regular paint-brush (white = show / black = hide, grey/other colors =show half/other-transparence...). Often its a better way then the DESTRUCTIVE erase on a pixel-layer. Its a little bit confusing in the beginning, but you will learn and like it soon. There is just a complete CONFUSING bug: The color-change will show you white EVEN is there no color!!!!!!!!! i do not know how often i "paint" and nothing happens! Just the foreground shows white but was "no color!!!!!" So, create a shorty for colorpicker to default (=100%black and 100%white) and hack if there is something is strange! Not really. When you choose a colour, it only takes into account its luminance/lightness and ignores the colour. R C-R
