tsc8@juno.com
When you turn on a word processor, the first thing that you should be able to do is write immediately. Publisher does not allow you to do this. This is frustrating. You need to turn on a feature that you allows you to type. This should be built in. It should be automatic. After all, that is how other word processors work. This needs to be fixed immediately.
000
Publisher is not a text editor or word processor -- as every other professional, modern dtp software, its frame based. curtsheller

Yes, but you still have to create a frame first. Same in Publisher ... when you create a text frame, you can ,auto-flow' it onto the next pages by holding the SHIFT key and clicking on the text flow button. But, again: You have to create a frame first (the thread starter wanted to have a ,page margin' like in Microsoft Word and other software that works without frames). No, Quark and ID creates automaticaly the text frame when you chack "Automatic Text Frame" and they also create automaticaly a new page with linked text frame when you have to continue on a new page.
