Hi,

I'm using tinkercad to construct simple 3D-models.

My problem is, that it cannot import .svg-files made with designer.
Right now, my silly workflow is:

  1. creating the basic shape with Designer
  2. export it as .svg
  3. open the .svg in Illustrator (which I actually want to get rid of)
  4. correct the import errors
  5. export again as .svg
  6. import the shape in tinkercad ans finally start working on actual 3D things.

I'm not asking for 3D functionality in Designer. Its wonderful the way it is.
I'd just love to find a way to skip steps 3-5.

An alternative to tinkecad might also be a solution ...
(Don't dare anyone suggesting Blender, Maya or Cinema4D ;) )

Thanks for your help

Sorry. It seems I have to learn how to use a forum properly.

This forum contains about 20 questions like mine and at least one appropriate solution.

If anyone else might ask: uncheck the "viewbox" option and do not work with artboards.

If I'm not mistaken, the Export features are constantly under development for further improvements; until then, not a solution but maybe a change: have you tried Inkscape for all SVG stuff? At least you could get rid of Illustrator.

Best regards!
