Node tool

It would be very useful to be able to drag a guide line using the Node tool as well as the Move tool. This way the curve nodes will not disappear when dragging a guide line.

This has been requested before, and it would be great to have it in Affinity Designer. It was requested many times for DrawPlus but we never got it; however, that shouldn’t prevent us from hoping it will be added to AD sooner rather than later!

Hi Alfred,

There are times when I find it difficult to comprehend when such a simple and useful change is frequently requested but never happens. Is it a technically difficult thing to do? I once requested that it would be useful to be able to curve the sides of the teeth in the cog tool and it happened withing days of making the suggestion!

Hi jackamus,

Although a few things may look simple from an user point of view they are way more complicated when dealing with code. In version 1.7 you will be able to create and move guides in all core tools and also have a way to lock them. Check this thread from Ben (one of the developers) for a couple more new features coming in the next version (and a few sneaks peaks/previews too).

I’ve never done this kind of programming, so I’ve no idea how difficult it is.

Thanks for that, Jack. It’s a nice improvement!

Do we have a possible date for 1.7?
