Adjustment layer issues?

Recommended Posts

I have just started playing with Affinity Photos for Mac.  So far, it is behaving very well in general, but I did have some issues with Adjustment layers.

1.  I cannot delete one once created.  Neither the delete key nor selecting layer>delete will rid me of a layer I no longer want.  Other layers delete just fine.

2. An adjustment layer seems to affect everything beneath it.  IS there a way to ONLY apply an adjustment to the layer immediately under it (better yet, a selected group of layers)?  I ask because there does not seem to be a way to apply the adjustment directly into the layer.

Beyond this, I am really liking this software, and you are making it much easier for me to live fee of subscription service photo software.

Update - ok I found that I can delete a layer sometimes - if it is empty, and I found where to make layer adjustments.  Just behaving a little unexpectedly.

Hi v3rlon,

Point 2.

At the moment any adjustment layer you add is added as a new layer by default, affecting the layer stack downwards. You can actually change this behaviour in the Assistant Manager (View menu) to make the new adjustment layer a child layer of the currently selected layer on creation. It's effects are limited just to that layer.

By the way, you can also drag the adjustment layer just under the target layer's name (you'll get a horizontal highlight) which has the same effect. The highlight shouldn't span the panel's width but should vertically align with the start of the target layer name.

For multiple layers, select your layers, then use the new Group Layer button (build 1.1.2.22821) at the bottom of the Layers panel (third from right). Use the same principles as a single layer to restrict the adjustment layer to the group.

Hi - I just came across this as I've been trying to figure out how to adjust just one layer and not all of them.

I can get it working by sliding the adjustment like a mask, however I can't find where to set the option so it does this by default?
