Move Tool: Rotate without using handles (modifier key)

Hi,

I am currently manually stacking a lot of moon shots. Thus i have to move and rotate the layers since the moon moves and rotates slightly. Moving wokes like a charm, but rotating could be a little better. Now I have to grab a corner node to rotate the picture, which makes me see only the very outer edge of the canvas. My suggestion would be to introduce a modifier key so I dont have to grab the node anymore, but could rotate the picture using the mouse anywhere on the canvas. This would allow me to rotate and check simultaniously. With shots like this not only the corner is of interest since the atmosphere distortes the pic all over the canvas and I have to check for the overall matching not only the corner matching.

Rotate with Transform panel?

That would really ruin the workflow. You cannot slightly rotate with the mouse using the transform panel and switching between mouse an keyboard to enter 0,x° then hit enter, check if works for me, then change for another 0,1°, check again, ... that's not really userfriendly.

Hi Maultierhirsch,

With the Move Tool and image you want to rotate selected, go to the Transform panel, set the reference to the center of the matrix on the left, then place the cursor over the R (label) in the Transform panel and click and drag over it to rotate the image. You can also press and hold the Space to hide the image bounding box if needed.

Sorry, but the increments using you suggestion are way to big. I cannot use that method.

Thanks for the reply. Might work. Have to try it on my next project.

@MEB: Found a bug using the CRTL-Arrow method. V 1.6.1.93 (Win) won't go to negative numbers when starting out at 0° and hitting CRTL-Arrow down. No problem when you are already in the negative range.

Ce que vous cherchez à faire est assez spécifique.

Une rotation très précise n'est réalisable qu'avec un segment en s'éloignant du centre. (principe AUTOCAD ).

Malheureusement, Affinity n'est pas (ou pas encore) adapté.

Le travail des images d'astronomie est plus facile avec le logiciel spécialisé: IRIS, dédié à l'astrophotographie).

@ Wikinger: Sorry for posting so late. Thanks for the recommendation of IRIS. I will give it a shot soon. I did not have trouble understanding the french post. I learned french in school and what I didn't get I understood after using translate.google.com.
I am glad for information, no matter in which language. If someone does not understand, there still is the option to ask for assistance. It's not necessary to get rude.

Je connais assez peu IRIS pour l'avoir très peu utilisé.

J'ai pratiqué l'astrophotographie argentique (génération oblige) et suis donc venu au numérique très tard.

J'ai essayé encore et trouvé ceci;

Pour une rotation précise de la sélection, vous pouvez essayer de procéder comme suit:

1) Faites une sélection (lasso, rectangle ou cercle).

2) cliquez sur l'outil flèche " Déplacer " [V]

3) Attrapez la poignée, extérieure extérieure du tracé + Ctrl maintenu.

4) Éloignez-vous du centre en tenant la pression permanente sur le bouton gauche de la souris + CtrlC.

5) Vous pouvez faire une rotation précise.

Plus vous serez loin du centre, plus la rotation sera précise.

Had the same problem before. And even with shifting and rotation it is not possible to complete the puzzle correctly because of optical distortion. It continues over the field of view and then it is so much better to let the computer do the work. IRIS already is a good tip, used Registar and Pixinsight meanwhile. I completely understand to have one program for everything and then the program to be so intuitive as Affinity Photo. However, this is beyond reality. You need a second program for registration and integration. But it's not horribly difficult and you can export the image and import it to Affinity to do the post processing.

J'ai déjà eu le même poblème. Et même avec le décalage et la rotation, il n'est pas possible de terminer le puzzle correctement en raison de la distorsion optique. Cela continue sur le champ de vision, puis il est tellement préférable de laisser l'ordinateur faire le travail. IRIS est déjà une bonne astuce, a utilisé Registar et Pixinsight pendant ce temps. Je comprends parfaitement d'avoir un programme pour tout et ensuite le programme doit être aussi intuitif que Affinity Photo. Cependant, cela dépasse la réalité. Vous avez besoin d'un deuxième programme pour l'alignement et d'intégration. Mais ce n'est pas horriblement difficile et vous pouvez exporter l'image et l'importer dans Affinity pour effectuer le post-traitement.
