spacecat
In photoshop when I click on layer mask for let's say an exposure adjustment it presents me with a white box where I paint black or white to reveal / mask the adjustment ... how does it work for photo beta? I see the new layer mask there but it has no box to paint in (?)
Paekke
In AP you reveal by using the >paint brush< and conseal by using the >erase brush< I'm not a fan of this work flow, cause I'm used to painting black and white like everybody else, shifting colors using the x key. I Hope they will change this in the future. But right now you just have to accept that masking is more confusing than it used to be. One thing I do like is the realtime preview via the brush size when painting in your mask. Hope this helps. PS: There's a help file in the app ;) Pretty useful AshTeriyaki

spacecat
Thanks! I didn't realize there was a help file, I clicked on 'tutorial' below it instead which explains why I couldn't find the proper help page.

AshTeriyaki
Actually while we're on the topic, I agree with Paekke, swapping tools (and brushes) is a bit rubbish, UNLESS you do want a different brush for subtraction (which I often do) in which case it makes sense OR when you are on a mask (with the regular brush active) you could pop an additional brush button for the subtracting brush. Keeping the 'x' swap. Best of both worlds. ...Sorry for the stream of consciousness
chipshopforks
One thing I noticed when I select an area, if I Cmd-C and Cmd V that selection it copies the entire image, rather than the selected area. Am I doing something wrong?

Staff MEB Posted February 10, 2015 Staff Share Posted February 10, 2015 Hi msoon2k, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Yes, this will be added as soon as we have time. There's still a considerable number of things to fix. This is just the first beta. But we will get there. msoon2k
AWesome MEB! Liking the whole feel of the app so far, and a Photoshop'esque app made especially for OS X - good things to come :) Product & Portrait Photography - www.marksoon.com
SLowmo75
Has black and white masking arrived yet? I'm also a fan of swapping black to white using the x key rather than having to switch back and forth between brush and eraser.
