GFS
Is this possible in AFPhoto? Quote Grumpy, but faithful (watch out all you cats)
smadell
Very possible! There are probably numerous ways to accomplish this, but here's the process that comes to mind first... 1) My first layer is a photo called "Red Flower." 2) On top of that layer, I added a photo of Keira Knightley. I used the "Place..." command, and then rasterized the layer. 3) I added two adjustments to the Keira layer, only. The first was a Black and White adjustment. The second was a Posterize adjustment. Using the Posterize adjustment (set at 1 level) allowed me to make the Keira level black and white, without shades of grey, like you specified. I thought this would be a bit more elegant than the "Levels" process described in the web site you linked. 4) I used the Flood Fill to fill the second layer with white (so that the mask would compute better). 5) With the Keira layer selected, I chose "Rasterize to Mask" from the Layer menu. I dragged the resulting mask into the Red Flower layer, and put a Black fill layer underneath everything so that the masked photo of Keira had a way to show up nicely. anon1 1 Quote Affinity Photo 2, Affinity Publisher 2, Affinity Designer 2 (latest retail versions) - desktop & iPad Culling - FastRawViewer; Raw Developer - Capture One Pro; Asset Management - Photo Supreme Mac Studio with M2 Max (2023); 64 GB RAM; macOS 13 (Ventura); Mac Studio Display - iPad Air 4th Gen; iPadOS

Unless I've overlooked something (which is entirely possible!) you can collapse those two adjustments into one by replacing them with a Threshold adjustment. GFS
Excellent smadell. Thanks for the reply. I hadn't stumbled across the Rasterize to Mask command. Quote Grumpy, but faithful (watch out all you cats)
