Is there one? How to I quickly select a bunk of curves that surround other objects?

You can enable Marquee select on touch in Affinity Preferences -> User Interface tab to select objects just by touching on them (while dragging a marquee) or shift-clicking on the objects you want to select.

I think it's been discussed somewhere on the forums and was thought to be taken into consideration...

A point-to-point selection tool would be ace as well.

 

What is this select on touch malarkay you speak of?!? Must try that out......

In preferences you can set your marque select to select by just touching an object as opposed to having to drag out the selection so it surrounds what you want selected... see attached screenshot.

I, for one would like a lasso select. There are indeed times when it is a welcomed feature...
