el.Fakir
Designer becomes better and better, v1.5 released today brings excellent features! But... (there's always someone who says "but" ;-)... multiple effect layers are not in yet. Does anyone know if there's something in the pipeline? arechsteiner
Staff MEB Posted October 6, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 6, 2016 Hi el.Fakir, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Multiple Effects/Fills/Strokes per shape are already on roadmap and will be implemented in a future version. arechsteiner
Multiple Effects/Fills/Strokes per shape are already on roadmap and will be implemented in a future version. Any specifics as to when this will be available? I'm evaluating Affinity Designer as a possible substitute for Photoshop for web UI design, but this is a bit of a showstopper. Multiple shadows are easily done in CSS so it's a waste if the design program I'm using is not able to follow suit. In effect it means that I would have to forfeit using multiple shadows when designing, even though they're there in the target technology. Especially since the functionality has been there on your end for the last two years: We will add this and our backend already supports it but we need to get the UI right. To be honest, I would much prefer an average UI than no UI at all. "Done is better than perfect" Adobe's implementation is pretty solid as posted by ALx. And if the gifted people at Serif could not come up with a better solution in two years, then there is no better solution. Quote Enjoying Affinity Designer on Windows 10. Staff MEB Posted October 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 24, 2016 Hi arechsteiner, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) There's no specific eta for any of the features on the roadmap. It simply lists all the features planned for the 1.x cycle of the application. They are added to the program as soon as the dev team is happy with how they work and they are stable for release. They are not all being worked simultaneously. Some will be implemented sooner than others, depending on the dev team plans and development constraints (some features are tied/dependent on others so may have to wait until the base features are implemented). Hi, still no news about this feature after 5 years? It is very hard to simulate realistic shadows without having option to add multiple shadows effects like in photoshop and without profile curve like for emboss already have in AP. Workaround by grouping layer and adding shadow effect is very hard to setup. And why not to add copy\paste fx in context menu on the layer? Staff MEB Posted November 1, 2021 Staff Share Posted November 1, 2021 Hi @sprayer, Welcome to Affinity Forums Sorry to disappoint but there's still no news/improvements here. Another option you can use to circumvent this limitation is to duplicate the layer with the shadow effect, then, simply adjust the settings of the duplicated shadow as you wish and set the Fill Opacity for that layer in the Layer Effects dialog to 0% to hide the duplicated shape itself and leave just the additional shadow with fine-tuned settings to help compose a more realistic shadow. The workaround for this is creating a group and adding that effect to the group, if you need another one - create a new group. This should allow what you are looking for
