Brush preview

Hi, it would be nice if the brush palette had some additional viewing options...

- simple 'dot' preview + the current 'line' preview

- name of the brush

If you mouse over the brush for a few secondds Affinity will display a tooltip with the name of the brush.

Yes that is true, but it's a bit cumbersome. And a another thing that i ran in to last night: i am not sure if this is a bug or not, but if i have open the brush settings dialog, by double clicking the brush, and then i change the brush size via shortcut key, the changed size is not applied in to brush dialog. If i then rotate the size via dialog, since there isn't a shotcut for it, the modified brush size is lost and i need to change the size again.

I wouldn't expect the brush size shortcuts to work anywhere other than the main UI.

 

I don't understand what you mean about the modified brush size being lost. The original brush size is lost, so if you have a brush stroke selected when you open the 'Brush - Editing' dialog, any changes will be applied to that brush stroke.

What i mean about the size being lost...

 

Create new document -> switch to pixel persona -> select Paint brush tool and brush for it -> change the brush size via hotkeys and draw something -> open the brush settings dialog and rotate the brush and draw something...and voila: the size you set via hotkeys is "lost" and you are using the original size.

 

It doesn't matter if you open the dialog before you draw anything - the modifications which are done to the brush, are not updated in the dialog, and when you modify the brush somehow via dialog - all settings from the dialog are used in brush, not just the setting that you modified.

Thanks for the further details, KiLa. I have now been able to reproduce that behaviour here.
