Macro Recording

Recommended Posts

Hi,

In PhotoPlus I managed (with some problems) to record a macro that

a) creates a named group

b) adds two Levels layers (with two different names) in that group

c) removes their masks and adds new "black" ones (fully transparent)

d) finally, changes blending modes for both of them to two different types

(the order may be a bit off, but this describes the final result).

Can you make it so that recording a macro in Photo will achieve similar results? So far I can't seem to be able to recreate this scenario.

I also found a bug.

a) Have Macro and Library studios open (same "tabbed panel").

b) Open a new file

c) Start Recording Macro

d) (do anything, but this is enough for me) Add levels and change it's blending mode to multiply

e) Stop recording and save macro (in your own category)

f) Go to Library tab, the macro is not present

g) Close image, the macro is now present

Also, I don't find it possible to group objects properly (created by macro at least) within a macro. Big minus.

Also, the Tone Mapping macros seem to be broken, on flips the image, one changes to b&w, other do nothing as they contain 1-2 actions at most.

Hi TEcHNOpls

it looks like we are simply not refreshing the panel. thanks for raising this I'll get it logged.

When you say Tone Mapping macros, do you just mean the default macros we provide? They all seem to function. Beyond the flip and B&W which have obvious effects, the Strip metadata removes EXIF and metadata from the image (this can be seen if you have the EXIF panel active) and the convert to sRGB changes the colour profile, which if the origiinal profile is sRG or similar look you will not notice much of a change.

The tone mapping macros have all very strange names so these are cofusing.

"Dessert port" is remove metadata.

"Pristley" is flip horizontal (why a macro for this anyway?).

"Cream" is flip vertical (same question here).

"Averna" is add B&W A.L. and merge down.

"The 70s" is convert colour, twice.

Hi TEcHNOpls

These were names of old macros that were made by the developers for testing! These should have been removed so I'm not sure how your default macros have inherited these names, they should just state what the macro does!

If you run the app with ctrl held down and when the dialog appears click reset macro library (you may want to export any custom macros 1st) then press clear do the names change to something more meaningful?

The included Macros are a small sample to demonstrate the panel's purpose but I'm sure we shall expand the included Macros for release

Hi,

Just reporting a BUG that needs fixing.

It is impossible to rename a Spare Channel or a Layer will recording a macro.

We get the following response: Cannot record "set description"

So it is impossible to make a complex macro.

May the light be with you!

This is a localisation bug - we'll try to get it fixed!

Thanks,

Andy.

HI,

I'm using the official English Windows version (1.5.0.45) under an English version of Windows 10 and I still have this strange naming problem, even after a Library reset.
