Filter Forge is SO SLOW...

Recommended Posts

I downloaded Filter Forge 5 today (demo version) and installed it into both Affinity Photo 1.4.3 and the latest 1.5 beta. Adding the plugin worked well, and it loaded easily when I asked it to. When using it to alter a picture, things seemed to go pretty well within the filter itself. BUT... once I clicked the "Apply" button, things got dicey.

Some of the built-in filters worked fine. Some of them were a bit slow. But, I downloaded the Watercolor Painting filter and applied it to a pixel layer, clicked "Apply" and the spinning beachball of death just went on and on until I Force Quit 10 minutes later.

Some of the forum members have gotten Filter Forge to work for them. Any tricks I'm missing? They are running a 1-day 80% off sale on the Basic version, and I'd love to find out if this software is worth my dollars. Thanks for your help!

I've just installed the Filter Forge 5 plugin into Affinity Photo and it's working fine. The Watercolor Painting Filter also worked but it can take time for the effect to transfer back into the app after applying. I did get the spinning beachball but this just means the app is busy processing data and after around 5 minutes the effect was applied to a 41MP image in AFP.
