GRScott
After selecting an objectIs I hit "shift-command-D" and nothing appends. Is the de-select working? Also, most all Mac programs use just "Command-D" for deselecting. Staff MEB Posted July 6, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 6, 2014 SHIFT + command + D is working on my system. That's probably another problem related with shortcuts and keyboard configs. Anyway SHIFT+command+D is for deselecting pixel based selections. To deselect vector objects or quit out most of the tools pressing ESC will do it. GRScott
Thanks MEB, yes I was trying to deselect a vector object. It seems to me that you should be able to use the same key strokes for both pixel based and vector objects. But then, I don't know the problems of programming something like that. retrograde
I agree GRScott, I think it should be the same for both modes... rui_mac
Actually, I always assume that Command+D stands for Duplicate.
GRScott
If you have already selected something, then Command-D is usually "Deselect" in most programs I've seen. rui_mac
I would rather have Command+A to select all and Shift+Command+A or Alt+Command+A to deselect. Just like a toggle. Then, Command+D to duplicate. But that is just my opinion, of course :-)
RBCK
I have also noticed strange behavior with deselecting objects. It appears in relation to nested layers (grouped objects). When I use the "Deselect" function (Cmd-D...btw. why not Cmd-Shift-A?), the currently selected object loses handles, but the corresponding layer in the Layers palette remains highlighted. Whats more, I'm not able to select another objects (just by clicking using the Move Tool). I have to click on the root layer in the palette, then to an empty space between the objects and then on the desired object.
