Hi,

I use all three Affinity applications—Publisher, Designer, and Photo. Since some options in Designer’s Pixel Persona are only available in Photo, I prefer working in Publisher, as it gives me access to all features through StudioLink.

However, I’ve noticed that the Export Persona is missing in Publisher. This is quite limiting, as the Export Persona provides powerful features for handling multiple export formats and slices efficiently.

Would it be possible to implement the Export Persona in Affinity Publisher? Having access to it directly within Publisher would streamline the workflow for those of us who use all three apps.

Thanks!

Regards

Jan

The Export Persona is literally two menu commands or keyboard shortcuts away:

  1. File → Edit in Photo
  2. Export Persona

The workflow is so fast that I can barely notice that I've been switching apps… :206_cat:

Whereas the benefit of the Export Persona "missing" in Publisher – for those of us who hardly ever use the Export Persona in the first place (in the past almost 10 years with Affinity, I've used it perhaps five times…?) – is less clutter and bloat in Publisher.

The most useful human traits is probably listening and reflection.

The esteemed customer likely envisions something better and more practical than just the rather unsuccessful and clumsy old-fashioned export dialogues. Given that one of their major challenges is a lack of space and organization, it makes sense to consider the export persona principle. After all, export is one of the most critical aspects of any workflow.

Instead of reacting like a child in a closed-off forum, throwing around outdated terms like ‘bloat’, ‘those of us’, and ‘I’, I would much rather hear directly from customers themselves about their needs and assessments of export in Affinity as a whole - rather than from self-proclaimed ‘experienced’ forum gatekeepers, whose level of experience, in my view, is about as meaningful as being an experienced virgin.

In IT lengths, Affinity is already becoming an old player, and the principles behind export are due for a reassessment. When ePub and other parameters hopefully become part of the export process, this need will only become even more evident. Here at the workplace, we use the export persona in multiple workflows - not only for final output but also for breaking design elements into individual files and exporting parts of designs for review by clients and colleagues. Overall, it works quickly, seamlessly, and efficiently in these scenarios. It’s not just convenient—it matters in a company and in a busy workday where no one has the energy to wrestle with software. So, shall we not assume that your five visits to this feature are not representative of the needs of up to millions of customers? As far as I recall, I’m not the only one at work who doesn’t quite understand why this feature is exclusive to Designer, as it would make just as much sense for us in Photo - if we weren’t using Photoshop. If anyone has business needs for it in Publisher, then those needs should be assessed. By Serif. Accommodating, no matter what they ultimately decide to do.

The key here is genuine adult and professional behavior, as the two go hand in hand. It’s about truly listening to customer needs while setting aside one’s ego. Only then can a clear and well-founded profile of customer needs be drawn up in a calm and structured manner.

We are, at the very least, somewhat puzzled by the rather thrown-together export functionality across Affinity - something quickly cobbled together in export, with export persona or similar functionality only available in Designer. We hope for a more complete and well-thought-out export solution across the entire suite.
