Please tell me how to get an actual ERASE from this tool, or any other, without the light grey fog round the edges. This is simply to erase some black letters on a white background. I don't want a 'get-round', I want it to work!

Welcome to the forums @Ron Geesin

Can you record and share a full-screen (whole application UI) video of this happening?

If you cannot record a video, can you upload a full-screen (whole application UI) screenshot which shows us what you can see directly before you drag the mouse to begin erasing?

Please make sure that we can see the Layers Panel, in which the layer you are erasing on is selected, and the Context Toolbar in the video/screenshot.

Can you also tell us which brush you are erasing with (brush category name and brush name)?

I'm assuming the black text you're trying to erase is a pixel layer? If so, does unchecking (if it is currently checked) Wet Edges in the Context toolbar remedy the issue?

Also check that the Hardness setting of the Erase Brush is set to 100%.

And make sure that you selected an appropriate Brush from the Brushes panel.
