soggybag Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I'm using Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 on a Mac. When I use the Artistic Text Tool it seems to only create a black box. It seems like I can text within this box but I can't see any letter shapes, it's all black. Changing the color doesn't seem to have any effect? Quote
Brian_J Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 With the text frame selected, take a look at the Text Frame panel to see if the text frame has a fill color applied to it. Quote Windows 10 22H2, 32GB RAM | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
soggybag Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Thanks I figured this out! Seems a little unintuitive that the default is black text on a black background! Quote

Glad you got it figured out. The default frame text fill is none. Frame text fill color is remembered; when creating a text frame, the fill color applied to it is the same as last fill set in a text frame. It’s tough to say how the fill color may have been set to black unintentionally, but at least you know how to address it if it happens again.
