Rotating Sheet instead of object

Recommended Posts

Draw an object e.g. square en select it

Select 'View > rotate right'

What happens : the paper turns, not the object. see attachment

This acts the same as selecting 'none' + rotate right

[undo] is impossible: have to contra-rotate

Do you not see a "Reset Rotation" item on the View menu? (This is present on the Mac version View menu, but I do not know if it on the Windows beta.) That resets the rotation of the canvas, which is what the View > Rotate items do.

To rotate an object, select it with the Move tool & use the control handle at the center top of the selection box (the cursor will change to an arced, double arrow shape) & drag it around. (In your screen shot, it is on the left of the red square.) Or, select the object & use the Transform panel (the R: value) to enter an angle for the rotation.

I was confused by this until I looked a bit closer at it.

In DrawPlus, Rotate is on the Arrange menu and it rotates the object, not the canvas. The rotate canvas options are on the hintline.

The Reset option is "Reset Canvas" and not "Reset Rotation."

In my opinion, the wording in Affinity Designer should be changed accordingly, and a Rotate Canvas tool is needed to allow free rotation to any angle.
