Cannot find the plist file from Publisher2 and Designer2

Recommended Posts

I would like to share the app settings of photo, publisher and desinger (all V2) initially for our entire company. The com.seriflabs.affinity[app].plist files should actually be in user > library > preferences. Unfortunately, despite changing the settings several times, I can only find the .plist file of affinityphoto2 there...

What could be the reason for this? Where else are the settings saved?

This would be very interesting for us, because only the colour settings of CMYK have to be changed from U.S. coatet to Euroscale coatet.

Welcome to the Affinity forums.

I'm not sure if what you want will be in a .plist file or in one of the .propcol files (or possibly a different type of file). The FAQ describes the locations for all of them. Note that the exact location depends on where you downloaded/installed the application from.

It may also be different if you're using a commercial license rather than a personal license, so if you do not find the info from using the FAQ and if you're using a commercial license (as I infer from your description of wanting this for a company), then I would suggest emailing corpsupport@serif.com for further assistance.

Assuming you are on a Mac, you can use a free app called "AppCleaner". Normally this is used for deleting applications as it goes and pulls everything from that app and moves it to the trash for you. What you can do with it in your case is drop the app in, it will show you where everything is and you can reveal those in the finder and move that way. Just don't delete the app!

This is a link to the app itself. Light weight, no installing, you can move it anywhere. Really handy tool. https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

You can right click on each item as well and select reveal in finder.

Thank you for your quick reply.
yes, the preferences that i want to share across the company are in the .plist file. and i also know the article you linked.

the whole thing also works with the photo app, but not with the designer and not with the publisher. that's why i first asked the question here in the forum.

obviously i will contact corpsupport for further help. thank you very much!

You're welcome. I may have more when I'm back at my Mac tomorrow. It wasn't clear to me if you were using the instructions in that article or not.

I am not sure why you can only find the .plist file for affinityphoto2 but keep in mind that the plist files are updated dynamically every time you open or create a new file, so if you shared them across the company they would not remain the same the moment any user opened or created a new file.

Very strange. If they're installed (and from the same Store as Photo the .plist for Designer and Publisher should be there, too.

And they are on my system (installed from Affinity Store):

  • 2 weeks later...

I may have found the problem: I also bought and installed the Affinity Suite privately via my icloud account. I had deleted and reinstalled the programs. Now there is still an automatic link to this account instead of using my company licence/installation (but only for publisher and designer, not for photo...)

On the other computers in the company, the file is in the right place and works as desired.

Does that mean your issue is resolved, @rhouska, or do you still need assistance?
