Ron P. Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 @rabbie, Welcome to the forums Sorry to hear you're having this problem. Opening a file should not cause the app to crash. I'm guessing you're referring to Affinity Photo (AP)? Where are the CR3 files stored/located? Local HDD USB Drive NAS Cloud How are you attempting to open them? From File Explorer, Double-clicking, Right-click and choosing Open With After AP is open, choosing File>Open Drag and Drop Are you able to open any other file types, like JPEG? mopperle Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Loading cr3 files from my internal and external (USB-)disks works fine with APhoto 2.5.3 (and previuos versions) and latest Windows 11. Please tell us something about your hadware specs. Would you also should try: Open APhoto, do not load a file, go to Settings/Performance and deactivate the hardware acceleration. If this doesnt help: Do you get an error message (maybe check the Windows Eventviewer)? You may also post the log and dmp file (from today): Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.5.x - Windows 11 Pro
Dan C Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity Forums @rabbie! On 6/22/2024 at 8:12 PM, rabbie said: when I try to open Canon CR3 files The most important question first is to establish if these files are supported by the app, as you can find our full list of supported RAW models in V2 here Can you please confirm the exact Canon model these CR3 files originate from? Are you using Affinity V1, or V2? Finally, the below FAQ has steps to resolve crashing in Affinity on Windows when creating a new document - I hope this helps Quote
rabbie Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 I am using a Canon R5 the I have tried loading the files from a USB drive and also from desktop both make the program crash, I have also unticked hardware acceleration. I am using V2 Quote
mopperle Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 As the EOS R5 is supported, can you share an example picture, so that others can test and we can rule out that it is a problem with this specific file/format. Can you open other RAW files (in case you got some) or other supportd formats? Can you open this file in other software? Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.5.x - Windows 11 Pro
rabbie Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 I have just installed the latest update and all appears to be working OK Quote
mopperle Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Great you got it working. Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.5.x - Windows 11 Pro
Dan C Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Thanks for confirming that for me! I've opened a RAW file from this camera in 2.5.3 without issue.. So I'm certainly glad to hear this update is also working as expected for you also Quote
