Hi, this lesson appears to be read-only, including the "give it a try" parts. I see all the layers there, but can't seem to select the components. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Affinity forums, Warren.

Works fine for me. I just chose the Move Tool (otherwise you would need to select the image using the Layers panel, probably), double-clicked the image below the instructions, and then added the Curves adjustment.

There should be another thumbnail in the "Lessons" with the same image (but without the "6 minute lesson" label). That's a version that you can edit, you might find it helpful.

Hi Walt - Thanks for that. I was able to open the image within the 'give it a try' layer group and it looks like I can edit.

Hey Paul - I've seen that "Lessons" posted elsewhere, but can't locate a menu or link with that name. There are a lot of lessons on the whole out there, so I will keep looking for the ones that work for me. Thanks for replying.

This is what I was talking about, you can play around with the original version of the image.

Paul, I'm not sure where that is, so I tried logging into my a/c online. Under "Learning Resources" I see "Video Tutorials", "Quickstart Guide" and "Online Help".... not sure if I am in the right area to get to the "Lessons" window that you are showing me. Where is that?

One way, with the application open, is to use menu “File → New…” then select the Lessons tab in the dialog which appears.

It sounds as though you may be dealing with Locked Layers, which cannot be directly selected on the canvas with the Move Tool.

Please ensure the specific Layer/Artboard is unlocked in the Layers Panel, and you should find you are able to select and transform these elements as expected.

I hope this helps!

As Garry said, the "Lessons" panel in APhoto, which is where, I assume, you found the "6 minute lesson".

Thanks Garry & Paul. I see how to access it from the New File menu now. The lessons window opens in the app for new users and appears to continue to do so until you toggle off the "open at startup" checkbox. I was opening the 6 Minute Lesson at the top left of that window, which does not contain those source files. The one with the similar thumbnail at the bottom of the same lessons window (not a "6 minute lesson") is the one where I can download those editable source files.

Also, Thank you Dan. All good info.
