kiwibrit Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I have a macro in Affinity Photo V2 (2.5.2) run on Windows 11. I would like to edit it - but when I right click the macro on Library it is greyed out. I may have recorded it in v1 - could that be the cause of the problem? Is there anything else I should try to do? Quote
carl123 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Can you share the macro on the forum? Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. walt.farrell Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 A screenshot showing the Library, and the grayed-out edit option, might also be useful. carl123 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Also, just noticed that if you have no document open then that option will be grayed out Olidoesaffinity and walt.farrell 2 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. kiwibrit Posted June 11, 2024 Author Posted June 11, 2024 Thanks carl123, that worked - though the editing facility is not as comprehensive as I hoped. I am the unpaid website manager for a couple of model aircraft associations. I use Affinity Photo primarily for fairly routine photo editing tasks and bulk resizing, In the past I did some macro stuff - but quite a while ago. One of the macros allowed me to credit a photographer for may photos. I'd like to be able to do that again, and wondered if I could edit the original macro to change the name of the photographer. I have also wondered if I could find the macro file and see if I can spot the photographer name and edit it - but I haven't been able to find the file yet. I am having difficulty accessing WindowsApps in my own computer, so as yet I can't go that way. Quote

This will likely depend on how the original macro was created - are you crediting the photographer using an image watermark, or something else? 19 hours ago, kiwibrit said: I have also wondered if I could find the macro file and see if I can spot the photographer name and edit it - but I haven't been able to find the file yet. You shouldn't need to leave the Affinity app to find a macro file as you can simply export the Macro category from the Library Studio to the '.afmacros' format, or an individual Macro from the Macro Studio to the 'afmacro' format - however neither of these formats is directly editable by a user in a text editor etc and the only way to edit your Macro is through the Macro Studio. kiwibrit Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 Thanks to every one for the advice you offered. I really do appreciate people giving up their time to help. I know I am getting a bit senior (late 70s) and I realised that I had forgotten how I created the original macros. So I found a video that showed me how to do what I needed. The video was prepared for Photo v1 -but I found that, apart from calling up the Macro and Library panels via Window rather than View, the process was the same, was simple and did the job. The key was rasterising the transparent text layer. For anybody stuck like I was, The video is linked below. Quote
