I have just updated my copy of Affinity Photo 2 to the latest 2.4.2: every time I only OPEN any file - it crashes every time. I've rebooted my computer several times, now no ather program (beside Chrome) is working. Pls help ASAP.

That almost certainly means the problem is not caused by anything related to updating AP2 because that cannot affect any other apps than whatever Affinity ones are installed.

So you need to do the various systemic troubleshooting methods relevant to your OS & hardware.

@mopperle Here is the specs of my computer. There was absolutely no problem with version 2.3.1 but in 2.4.2 every time I try to open any jpg file - Affinity crashes. I've installed ale the newest drivers for NVIDIA (studio version).

@RichardMH System File Checker did not revealed any problems

To make sure I understood you correct:

- is Chrome the only program you have installed beside Affinity and it works?

OR

- you have other programs installed beside Chrome (and Affinity) and none of them is working any more?

I have other program as well (and all of them running without any problems) but I shut them down to make only Affinity and Chrome running now.

Hi @Ryw,

I'm just going to debug the crash report but while i wait for that, can you try disabling Hardware Acceleration (if enabled) under Edit>Settings>Performance and see if that stops the crashing?

@Ryw Thanks for the screenshot. Its very odd that your Renderer felid is blank.  The couple of times i've seen that, if i remember correctly is when Affinity is being run on a Virtual Machine, which i take isn't the case here?

Could you also attach your log.txt which can be found in this location:
%userprofile%\.affinity\Designer\2.0

If you paste that path into the Windows run box and click okay, it should open that folder with the log.txt file in :)

Can you choose anything in the "Renderer" box?

Beforre you reinstall AF, I suggest to install the latest driver for your graphic card.

Hi @Ryw,

Thats great the beta is working :) but it still doesn't explain why the main release build isn't.  It would be interesting to see if you have the same issue with the EXE version of the release build of 2.4.2
