Affinity Rat Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Clicking on a jpg file in file manager now automatically opens it in APho, how can I return it to view file in “Quick Look” I suspect sharing is responsible but not sure how. Quote
MikeTO Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mh35597/mac Permanently change the app used to open all files of a particular type On your Mac, click the Finder icon in the Dock to open a Finder window. Select a file, then choose File > Get Info. You can also Control-click the file, then choose Get Info. In the Info window, click the arrow next to “Open with.” Click the pop-up menu, choose an app, then click Change All. Note: Don’t click Change All if you only want the specific file you selected to open with that app. Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)

If you ‘long-press’ (i.e. press and hold) the file’s name or icon in the Files app, the ‘Share’ option on the context menu will let you choose which app should open it. However, I don’t know how to make that choice become the default for files of the same type. Affinity Rat Posted March 31, 2024 Author Posted March 31, 2024 Thanx for replys, but there is no Quick Look option in Share on the iPad. There are options for Affinity products and I use them, it appears that the iPad in its efforts to be “Smart” has decided how I want to open this type of file, and give the user no control. Quote

Paul Mudditt Posted March 31, 2024 Posted March 31, 2024 I have seen several reports of weird problems with the iPad Files app recently, try deleting it, closing all apps then do a Forced Restart and reinstalling it. Thanx Paul, yes the iPad file manager is very buggy, even Apple support admit it has problems. Rant Disclaimer, yeah I know, as someone who craves transparency, Apple is not a ecosystem I would choose to use, but reliable hardware and software base leave few alternatives. Seems if the functionality of something makes Apple software easier to use with other software, Apple is not going to make any effort to fix it. Apple recently sued for anti-competitive practices is spot on. Apple great hardware, but business practices are anti-competitive, keep people in dark so they cant use device it in ways that undermine the Apple ecosystem. Amen Quote
