pasvorto
When I try to open a NEF file (from a Nikon D4) the screen says file loading' and then the program ends and I am back at the desktop. I am running a Dell laptop with Windows 10. Previously I edited photos from the same camera an everything worked. Now it doesn't. I tried uninstalling the program and installed version 2.3 and experienced the same issue.
Hangman
Hi @pasvorto and welcome to the forums, Are you able to upload a sample NEF file so we can take a look? There should be no issues opening the files so there may be something else going on... Hangman
Hi @pasvorto, I've just opened your file on macOS without issue so I very much suspect the issue isn't with v2.4.0 but hopefully another Windows 10 user can see whether they are also able to open your file in 2.4.0... Staff MEB Posted March 11 Staff Share Posted March 11 It's not crashing for me neither in macOS nor in Win10. If you go to menu Edit > Settings and disable hardware acceleration in the Performance section then open the RAW file does it crash for you? If not can you please list your laptop specs (including graphic card(s). Thanks. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
pasvorto
It has worked in the past, on this PC. I did disable the hardware acceleration and it still crashes.
Autodidact
Works for me too without any crashes. Opened the file plainly in Photo, as well as making a preset file and dropping it on. Also dropped it in a Publisher and a Designer document. I'm on Windows 10 Pro (10.0.19044 Build 19044). Don't ask why.
pasvorto
I tried it again and it crashed. There should be a crash report with my email address attached to it

What version of the installer did you download (e.g., what was its filename)? While it is certainly possible that no crash reports are created, in that case the directory will still be there, just empty. So if you're not finding the directory (as indicated in your prior post) then you're probably looking in the wrong place. walt.farrell
Thanks. That often happens to me, too, on one of my PCs, and I've never figured out why.
