MikeTO Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Publisher will break a paragraph before a note reference marker which should never happen. I don't think this has been reported before but I could be wrong. I can work around this by inserting a zero width joiner but that requires checking my document for this issue. Staff stokerg Posted March 11, 2024 Staff Posted March 11, 2024 Hi @MikeTO, I've no doubt you are correct but I'm struggling to get the exact workflow to show the issue. If you could give me a set of steps to follow, I'll get this logged with the Developers, as it doesn't look like this is logged or come up before

Do you have a space before the number? This is the only way I can get this to happen. Or it may be something with the particular font you have for that paragraph and or number. MikeTO Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 @stokerg I wish I'd taken a screenshot of it because I can't reproduce it now so it's more complex than I thought. I went through all the notes in the book and couldn't identify which one it might have been, but I think I've found the cause even if I can't reproduce the issue in the same way. Look at how Publisher hyphenates the word "infant" in test1.afpub (first screenshot). The min suffix is 2 and it's breaking at 1 so I assume the hyphenation code might be considering the period, quotation mark, and reference as part of the word length. You'd have to increase Min Suffix to 7 to stop it from breaking this way, and that makes sense because t."123 is 6 characters. Likewise, if you reduce the note starting number from 123 to 1, it would break this way until you increase min suffix to 5 because t."1 is 4 characters. In test2.afpub (second screenshot), the same problem will occur without using quotation marks and min suffix set to 3. I assume this is the same bug as I was reporting, but I can't find a word that will break at the period instead of before it. test1.afpub test2.afpub stokerg 1 Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters MacBook Pro (M4 Pro, Tahoe 26.1) and iPad Air (M2, iPadOS 26.1)

MikeTO Posted March 29, 2024 Author Posted March 29, 2024 @stokerg I'm not entirely sure but this post might be a report of the same bug. Please let me know if I should post a separate bug report for it.
