Problem downloading update (split)

Recommended Posts

This is not a comment on "Bugs or Problems" with the new version... It's a problem downloading the upgrade...

I currently have Affinity Designer 2.0.4 and am invited to upgrade to 2.4.0 each time I open it.  I have attempted to upgrade five times and each time it begins the download but about a third of the way to completing the download it stops saying an error has occurred.

@Update Failure, Welcome to the forums :)

You're not the first to report having problems with downloading. Where (generally) are you located? I know here in the US, we've been having problems with Cyber attacks, that have shut AT&T down for thousands for up to a day. Social media platforms (Beta), FB, Messenger suddenly went offline. They think we're dumb and don't know what they're doing.

You are aware that Serif uses Amazon Web Services to host their download files. It could be that Amazon is experiencing problems, or somewhere between you and them..

You could consider downloading the update manually, from https://affinity.store/update/macos/designer/2

Hi @Update Failure,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums!

I believe our team are aware of an issue that can occur with the in-app updater when going from 2.0.4 to a version above 2.1 - causing the update to fail, therefore I don't believe this to be internet connection related at this time.

As Walt has suggested above, you can download the full 2.4 update manually from the Affinity site, then install this in your Applications folder using the default method.

You might be prompted to 'Keep/Delete/Replace' when installing the 2.4 update, please select 'Replace' and the app will be installed as though it has updated, retaining all of your custom settings etc.

I hope this helps :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!
