Designer - bad behaviour : Select Bottom / Select Top

Recommended Posts

Designer v2.3.1

1)
Create 5 rectangles.

2)
Click on the top rectangle in Layers.

3)
Menu - Select - Select Bottom

4)
Now I press Shift and click on the first rectangle in Layers.
I assume this should select all rectangles, because I am holding down Shift key, but It select only first rectangle.
Similar problem with: Menu - Select - Select Top

I use Select Bottom / Select Top, because it helps me select items in a group.
The "Select children in selected group" function does not exist, so I would ask for you to add "Select Children" function.

Select any child in the group
Make sure Edit all Layers is off (in the Layers panel)
Then Select > Select All

If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

@NathanC There is one more problem (bug) with the Select Bottom / Select Top commands in ADe that @FrM didn't mention.

  1. Click on the top/first rectangle in Layers Panel.
  2. Menu → Select Select Bottom.
  3. Press Shift and click the third rectangle (from top) in Layers Panel.
  4. In the Layers panel, the last three rectangles (from bottom) should be selected, but unfortunately the first three (from top) rectangles are selected.

The same happens with Menu → Select → Select Top.

  1. Click on the bottom/last rectangle in Layers Panel.
  2. Menu → Select → Select Top Layer.
  3. Press Shift and click the third  rectangle (from top) in Layers Panel.
  4. In the Layers panel, the first three (from top) rectangles should be selected, but unfortunately the last three (from bottom) rectangles are selected.

The application appears to be selecting the wrong layer to start iterating from (moving down in the layer stack) when selecting layers from the Layers panel after applying the Select Top/Select Bottom commands.

Thanks, i've added info this onto the existing report as it appears to have the same trigger (Select Bottom/Top), just a different selection.

The issue "[Win] Layers Panel- Shift selecting multiple layers after using the Select > Select Bottom/Top command does not function" (REF: AF-1820) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.5.0.2317".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.
