Joe S.
I noticed that vector fills are very hit & miss after cleaning up vector lines, like my attached screenshot where the red fill only worked on the shape with the crossed lines. Is there a way I should be deleting segments that will make filling cleaned up shapes easier? I don’t believe it’s a setting as I’ve tried toggling all the vector fill settings and the shape with the crossed lines filled every time, while the one on the right did not. G13RL
For me, the filling remains (W 11, AD 2.3.0) by adding two nodes at the intersections of each curve before deleting the outer segments.
G13RL
Sorry, I've just seen that the question was asked in the iPad section! 😕
Bri-Toon
I am guessing that you are looking into deleting those extra segments sticking out of the triangle? If so, then maybe you should use a different tool than the Vector Flood Fill Tool. Give the Add mode of the Shape Builder Tool a try. Those extra segments will become separate objects, and then you can delete them. Quote The website is still a work in progress. The "Comics" and "Shop" sections are not yet ready. Staff DWright Posted December 20, 2023 Staff Share Posted December 20, 2023 Your lines may not be touching each other please try selecting all the lines the in the Node tool use the Close button to connect the lines and the Vector Fill tool should now work. Joe S.
Thanks, I will try both approaches and see how I do.
Bri-Toon
As another tip, you can expand your strokes, and then add them together with the geometry tools. Then you can add vector flood fills without having the lines touch each other. Just be aware that you won’t be able to edit the strokes afterward, so it is best to make a copy before expanding.
