Affinity Photo opens too big to fit on my Macbook's Screen

When I open Affinity Photo the work area is too big to fit on the screen so:

  • I can not see the tool bar at the top
  • I can not see the tool bar on the right
  • I can not see the red, yellow and red buttons to minimise etc
  • I can see the left edge of the work area and move it to the right but I can not then move the resized area to the centre because I can not see the tool bar at the top
  • I have access to all the items at the top in the Mac menu File Edit Text etc.

Basically it's unusable. I have had all the updates.

(I work with an X-Pen drawing display which is rubbish - it's the one they made where the display died and you can only use it as a tablet while looking at the Mac to see what is going on.)

Any help appreciated

Huw

Thanks for the pormpt help!

It's the actual Affintity app which is too big for the screen. I have found a "sort-of" soultion which is to go to Window where (I thought) I clicked "Show full screen" and now I can see the left, right an top tool bars but the bottom of the window is off the screen.

I went back to Window and the "Show full screen" I thought was there, was not there to choose anymore - so as you can see I am confused.

Affinity Photo is now functional for me but the bottom of the window is missing and I can not reach it to drag it up. Also the Mac menu at the bottom sits on top of the window.

It's still not right  - I will keep trying.

Thanks again!

Window > Zoom might also be an option that would help you.

Hi @HuwR,

Thanks for your report!

I believe this is the following known issue, which can occur when connecting/disconnecting an external display with the Affinity apps in use -

Our team are working to resolve this issue, but hopefully the above Window > Zoom option restores the full Affinity app for you :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

The issue "[macOS] App Window Disappears after disconnecting and re-connecting an external monitor between app sessions" (REF: AF-417) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.4.0.2211".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
