Intuos5
Not sure if this was the scope of the improvement, but there is currently no way to address regular text formatting. I presume text fields refers to fields and not regular text. But any changes in the cross-reference window for character styles like bold, italics or underline don't come across in the actual reference still. Notice how I cannot modify the style of the text "page" in the video below (only if i apply a character style globally to Everything, can I change the style): 2023-11-08 14-28-57.mp4 This is on windows 10.0.19045, Publisher 2.3.0.2114. MikeTO
With the changes in 2.3 you can: Not apply a style override. Example: Apples on page 12 Apply a style override to the entire cross-reference. Example: Apples on page 12 Apply a style override just to the fields. Example: Apples on page 12 Apply a style override just to the text fields: Example: Apples on page 12 Apply a style override just to the number fields. Example: Apples on page 12 You cannot: Apply a style override just to the plain text. Example: Apples on page 12 Apply different style overrides to different fields and to the plain text With the 2.3 change, Serif made it much more flexible but didn't address every possible combination of formatting. To address every combination would require a much more complex user interface. Intuos5
Thing is that it is odd that you can set manual styles like I showed in the video. You'd expect that these bold, italics or underline overrides would propagate to the cross-references.
MikeTO
Oh, you're not supposed to be able to format plain text inside the Text field in the Cross-References dialog, as you've done with italic and underline. That isn't allowed on macOS. I assume this is just an oversight in the Windows version which is why that formatting is being ignored when you click OK. Intuos5
Exactly my point. Either way formatting should stick or not be allowed if it doesn't stick.
Staff Gabe Posted November 9, 2023 Staff Share Posted November 9, 2023 Thanks. Issue logged. Formatting should not be allowed on that field. Intuos5

It just doesn't apply to anything in your cross-reference. "Text fields" are the entries from the pull-down like the ones I've marked below, not text you type in the cross-reference entry: @MikeTO: Publisher on macOS works the same here as on Windows.
