Sephen Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Hi, I've got a text box with a number eg. 512 how do i scale the Parent box when the number changes? I also tried text styles but that doesn't work either its important that the box has rounded corners. Thanks! Quote
carl123 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 It helps to know what app(s) you have. But it can be done in Publisher, using.... Art Text Text Frame Panel (for the black fill colour) Paragraph Panel to add 4 decorations (with required stroke size, rounded corners and Indents) Attached file may be easier to understand autobg2.afpub Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. thomaso Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 I can't open V2 to see how Carl did it, – nevertheless, here a workaround with a pinned object for one end of the background. It moves with typing. The Art text frame itself has a paragraph decoration as background fill colour. rounded txt frm grows.afpub Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6

thomaso Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Thanks, @carl123, clever solution to achieve the corner radius via the Decoration's stroke width! If the fill gets set as a Paragraph Decoration, too, the Text Frame panel is not required + you can save the design as a Text Style. (…which, for a different font size, only needs to adjust the Bottom Indent if the stroke has "Scale with Object" activated.) For a more rounded shape (circular frame caps) you can use additionally the Character panel with its Horizontal / Vertical Scale options + Baseline shift. This may require fiddling around but – other than the Pinning method – the Decoration setup… … doesn't need APub and … can be saved as Text Style + quickly applied to other Art Text objects. … can be scaled with Move Tool as object growing rounded text frame.afpub Edit: "Decorations" aren't available in the Paragraph panels of AD / APh, so APub is required for this workflow.
