Color Replacement is not using my selected color.  You can see in the screenshot that I've chosen a bright yellow.  But, it appears to be replacing by a color mix.  Obviously a setting but not sure what I need to have a replacement of the actual color.  Also, look at the replacement near the white circle on the lower right side.  It won't replace white.  I appreciate all the help.  thanks

It's not supposed to replace with your chosen color, despite the name of the Tool.

It replaces with the Hue of your chosen color, while preserving the Saturation and Lightness of the existing color.

This surprises a lot of people.

They (Affinity) should simply change the name of the tool. For everyone of the people who write in here to ask about this there are probably dozens of people who have trouble with it and are unaware of these forums so we don't hear from them.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I do find it confusing when I watch videos on this subject and the person chooses PINK and color is replaced with PINK. They choose GREEN and color is replaced with GREEN. I choose YELLOW and everything turns GREEN. Obviously it a subtle control that I’m missing. I’ll need to play.
Also, any answer to why I don’t get a replacement with when trying to replace WHITE with a color. Because WHITE is not a color?

thanks

It won't work with White or Black.

White has Saturation and Lightness both at 255 (in RGB), and the Hue is irrelevant at that point. Black has them both at 0, and again the Hue is irrelevant.

Consider the large Color Chooser, for example, that you get by double-clicking the color well in the Color Panel.

Hue is the slider across the top. Within the large box, Lightness is left to right, and Saturation is top to bottom. For a given Hue in the image (slider across the top) the only replacements you can get with the Color Replacement Brush Tool are the colors in the large box.

Also, you'll see that across the very top of the box (Saturation 100), regardless of Lightness, the color is White. And across the very bottom of the box (Saturation 0), regardless of Lightness, the color is Black.
