Affinewbie Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 The Actual Size zoom on my monitor does not line up with the actual paper size when I hold it up against the monitor so I want to adjust the scale to make it match. In other software such as Clip Studio, there is a setting to adjust it so it lines up with a ruler held against your monitor. Where is this option in Affinity Designer? Quote
firstdefence Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 I think the best you can hope for re Affinity, is to adjust the zoom size and this depends on screen resolution, it's certainly not accurate but maybe others know of a better way. Affinewbie Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 Thanks for the response @firstdefence and @Pšenda. From what I gather from your responses, I take it the feature I'm looking for does not exist in Affinity Designer? If so can I make it a suggestion for the developers to add something like it? It would really help with irregular monitors instead of faffing about with the system. 24 minutes ago, Pšenda said: Could it be an effect of a specific configuration - OS, Scale factor (it doesn't affect me), monitor For my case, I'm using an external monitor along with my laptop. On my laptop, the measurements for Actual Size is mostly correct but I want to use the larger external monitor. Having a slider like what Clip Studio has will make things a whole lot easier to set up IMO. Quote

Of course - in addition to the zoom level, it is also about saving a specific document view position. For Affinity V1 I did not find a way to toggle between the internal retina and the external monitor without this issue. I haven't tried it lately (and never with Affinity), but years ago it was possible in macOS to influence this by selecting the external screen as the start / boot screen. (sys prefs > monitor > arrange > move menu bar to external screen). This could cause applications to take into account the resolution of the external screen when launching and for certain zoom settings. Checking the app defaults (under macOS) here only shows a ... ScrubbyZoom = 1; ... flag setting, which only influences the way how to zoom (...whether dragging with the Zoom Tool zooms around the cursor (scrubby zoom) or creates a 'zoom to' marquee).
