TheCongressman Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 I am trying to customize my tool bar and am having trouble. I usually group like tools together in photoshop. Affinity does have some tools grouped already, so I would assume you could make a new group. However when dragging a tool onto another tool to group them, the other tools move out of the way. And I don't see any options on the tool bar customization menu. Is there not a way to do this? Quote
GarryP Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Welcome to the forums @TheCongressman The Affinity applications don’t have a user-defined ‘tool grouping’ functionality on the Toolbar (or anywhere else). Some tools are ‘grouped’ but that’s because Serif have chosen to ‘group’ them for us. The best we can do is to use a ‘space’ or ‘flexible space’ divider between icons that we consider to be related. If you would like to have ‘tool grouping’ on the Toolbar then you can create a new feature request or, even better, search for an existing request which covers your requirements and ‘add your voice’ to that. Komatös Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Damn @GarryP you where faster than me. 😂 Since most tools are also available individually, you can assemble the tools as you like. Use a smal blank separator to separate your self-created 'groups' Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.5 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351) Windows 11 Pro on VMWare Virtual Machine (on Mac) Affinity Suite V 2.6.3 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? That applies to the Toolbar but I think the OP is asking about grouping tools on the Tools panel. For that panel, other than the ones Affinity already groups together on the same icon (like for quick shapes) we can't make our own custom groups but we can add dividers & also use multiple columns to group tools in various ways. For example, this is how I have set up the Tools panel for the Designer persona in AD V2 on my Mac: walt.farrell 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7

It's frustrating as I constantly find myself waiting for Affinity to gain parity on basic functionalities other graphics applications have had for decades. Quote

Out of curiosity, what apps do have that allow you to customize how to group tools on their tool panels?
