Failing to Launch

Recommended Posts

Affinity user the last three years, no problem. Today Affinity hung while loading on my MacBook. Ver 10.14.6. Bounces on the dock forever. Tried rebooting the Mac. no change. Tried re-installing from new download. Hangs on 'verifying'. Deleted old software and tried again. No change. Tried installing from backup version. No change. I'm out of options.

Hi eter and welcome to the forums. Try restarting Affinity while holding down Ctrl. Press it immediately after clicking the app icon and hold it until you see the Clear User Data screen. Then go ahead and clear your user data, just leave all the checkboxes the way they are. You'll lose a few settings but it should load after doing this.

And of course reboot your Mac for good measure.

Good luck.

If it is a Dock icon you are clicking, you can just start by holding down the CTRL key, then press & hold on that icon until the menu pops up, & choose "Open" from that menu. Then you can release the CTRL key.

That's a lot easier than trying to get the timing right if you click on the app icon first.

Update: Well, blow me. After basically giving up and leaving the 'verifying' box hanging, ten minutes later, the Mac window "allow this app to open?" box appeared then Affinity finally launched. It seems to be functioning, but I can't update the software as it says there is an error retrieving data, try again later. So not sure all is fully well...

Perhaps perform the Connectivity Check from this FAQ post?
