Placing text around a circle

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I have just purchased iPad v2 designer

i have having a lot of trouble placing text around a circle.

I create the circle. I use artistic text tool to place text on the top of first circle . No problems there . I create a second circle, a copy of the first with its text. I move the text to the bottom after changing it to reflect what I want the text to say on the bottom of the circle. Boy it's upside down inside the circle.

youtube is not helping . Videos show people achieving the desired results but I can see which functions they are selecting to get the result.

it's easy to do on my laptop and I have done it before with affinity designer . But I have all my fonts on my iPad that I want to use .

I appreciate your advice. And thanks in advance

G

The help file explains the different nodes, which control the text flow and position. There are very small and difficult to spot.

In case it helps : to shift the text inside/outside the circle, you can modify the baseline of the  characters (giving it a negative value for example).

(Sorry, it's a desktop view. I don't know how it is on an iPad.)

It’s easier if you just use one circle with two lines of text. Type the top text, press the Return key and type the bottom text to get something like this (screenshot from AD version 1, but version 2 should be the same):E64D3872-8FF6-4C17-A73A-DACAB93C9D4D.jpeg.2e6bc647c439822fe362d4a7c34b8657.jpeg

Drag the green triangles to adjust start positions of the two lines of text:294CC085-5CC6-4A13-8E5A-3B8795130840.jpeg.09618415eeb93b8e8c00b1792050d768.jpeg

Select the second piece of text:

Adjust the baseline to move it outside the circle:

I’m trying to edit my text around the circle. The tutorials I have found show the character positioning in the text tool. Photo 1 is from a tutorial.  Photo 2 is from my ipad as you can see I don’t have this available. I’m using designer 2 on an iPad Pro the app is up to date, I even tried removing and reinstalling with no success.  Any help would be appreciated.

You're trying to follow a V1 tutorial using the V2 applications. Things have moved around in the UI, so you will need to determine where they've moved, but everything you could do in V1 you can do in V2. The Help should provide guidance, as well as the standard V2 tutorials.

In the Help, try: https://affinity.help/designer2ipad/en-US.lproj/pages/Panels/characterPanel.html

Pictorially, in the Text panel, drill down where I've marked:
