tkarl__nn
I cannot find them ANYWHERE. My Affinity upgrade install did not create any new icons; plus, I cannot find the .exe files either. However, I got Publisher 2.0 to run -- as the last step of the Install -- so I think the programs are in my PC -- somewhere, but need to find them to create Desktop shortcuts so I can actually RUN the 2.1 versions! Please assist! I did find where the upgraded install went -- the directories say "2.0" all over; but there are no .exe's there either. When I click on the Icons I DO have, they run the v1.10 version. Catshill
I pin shortcuts to the start menu and group them accordingly. All the Affinity apps are together along with other relevant ones like my scanner.
tkarl__nn
Found them!!!! I guess I'm 'old-school'! I think of these as "Programs"! Affinity has changed them into "Apps", now for 2.0 & 2.1 -- and no one TOLD me, LOL!
lphilpot
On my Windows 11 box the non-sandboxed (EXE) installer puts a shortcut on the Start menu in Programs. I switched to it as soon as it was available so I can't remember offhand if the MSIX (app store) version puts their shortcuts elsewhere. The MSIX versions also have their standard shortcuts in the standard Windows Start menu. The install process does not provide an option to put one elsewhere, but there is a FAQ about how one can do that: tkarl__nn 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. tkarl__nn
Once I found my Apps in the Apps Folder (Duh!), in the Start menu, all is good now. I'm used to, and comfortable with, having .exe's that go into the Programs Folder. Oh, well. I must admit, I don't like "Apps". The 'Apps' icon does not tell me where the executable file is; and I still cannot find what file is executed when I click the icon -- the "Properties" that used to be with ALL Program Icons is not present among the 'Apps' Right-click menu. I feel disconnected from my own computer! Assistance appreciated.
lphilpot
You can download the EXE (MSI / standard) installer from Serif if you want. That will install into C:\Program Files\Affnity instead of under C:\Program Files\WindowsApps, i.e., in the conventional manner. Settings will be kept in C:\users\<account name>\roaming\affinity instead of in the typical apps location. There are numerous threads on these forums about the differences between the Microsoft store installation and the conventional installer installations. ... if that's what you're asking about. tkarl__nn
I have a horror story to relate about Microsoft Store: I bought a program there; and much later, after a hard drive crash, I found that the program was no longer on their site! So, I contacted the software-manufacturer. They declined support because I bought it from Microsoft Store! Luckily, Serif has the .exe's! I wish I would have gone with the .exe install -- I think I still can; but this nonsense of not being able to find an executable anywhere is definitely worth a reinstallation from the .exe's. lphilpot
The sandboxed exes are there, just under a user-inaccessible folder. You have to be an admin to browse to it. Just download the exe installer, uninstall the store version and reinstall the exe. You'll have to either identify and copy your config data to the normal locations, or just redo your preferences. tkarl__nn 1 Quote Len Affinity Photo 2 | QCAD 3 | FastStone | SpyderX Pro | FOSS: ART darktable XnView RawTherapee Inkscape G'MIC LibreOffice Windows 11 on a 16 GB, Ryzen 5700 8-core laptop with a cheesy little embedded AMD GPU Canon T8i / 850D | Canon EF 24-70mm F4L IS USM | Canon EF 70-200mm F4 L USM | Rikenon P 50mm f/1.7 | K&F Concept Nano-X filters ...desperately looking for landscapes in Nolandscapeland Flickr

However, if you had claimed that you had a good experience to share from The Microsoft Store, I would have burst out laughing.
